A great finale to the beautiful Indian wedding! Bhumi and Viren’s wedding reception was held at the Magnolia Room in Rock Hill SC. Bhumi’s good taste as a designer was obvious in setting up the venue for party! It looked beautiful.
I used the break between ceremony and reception to get ready- downloading photos, charging batteries, setting up lighting, and so on. I photographed the venue and details. And while the guests were enjoying cocktails, I managed to do a quick portrait session of the bride and groom. As I have said before, this session is very important to me as a photographer. Indian weddings can be very long and sometimes these important sessions do not happen (bride & groom’s session before the ceremony is also very important to me). So, I was glad to have been able to create some images.
The reception was fun – DJ Hangama (Sohil Kharva and Vashishth Patel) kept the dance floor busy all night! And that presented many opportunities for capturing and creating fun images! There were speeches, toasts, laughter, even few tears and a dance performance by bride’s friends.
But, what was unique about this reception was the friendly dance competition between the bride & groom! If you have seen ceremony photos, you may have seen the groom’s skills. Well, the bride got the turn to showcase her dance moves at the reception! The wedding guests really enjoyed this duel! And this set the tone for fast-paced fun all night! I admire folks who can dance and sing to every piece of music!
I enjoyed working with Bhumi and Viren. Both have great personalities. And I really admire all their planning and details and thank them for giving me the opportunity to capture their very special day.
I will be back in Charlotte this weekend to photograph Avni and Gurpawan’s Gujarati and Sikh Indian wedding! The sikh ceremony will be at the Gurdwara Sahib and the Hindu ceremony will be at the Ballantyne resort. A long wedding! And then I will be off to Chesapeake VA to photograph Prutha and Viral’s wedding, later in June.
I love Charlotte and although I have been doing photography assignments there, haven’t had the opportunity to explore the city yet. One of the projects I have on my list is doing plein air paintings of the downtown (or is it uptown?!). In fact, as a live event painter I recently painted Ayesha Mian presenting “My Big Fat Indian Wedding” at the Charlotte NACE’s monthly meeting. This event was held at the Hyatt House. You can see this painting on my art website: www.teshparekhart.com. I love photographing Indian weddings and I would love to get a live Indian wedding painting comission. In fact, I may be giving away an Indian wedding painting. Check out our Indian Wedding Phography & Video Facebook page in the coming days. And if you like my work, please like this page- it helps…
Ciao.
