Prutha and Veeral’s Wedding day story continues. The reception was also at the Hindu Temple of Hampton Roads. After the ceremony, I had returned to my hotel to download ceremony images and to get my gear ready for the reception. The original plan was to do couple’s mini portrait session at the Temple. But, then the couple decided to go to Virginia Beach for the session. Which was great, since we had already done a mini session at Temple after the ceremony. Different location also meant new possibilities. The gentleman in white suit (images below) drove us to VA beach in his nice Mercedes. As I had expected, Mercedes is no match for my 1999 Toyota RAV4! Just kidding! So, we walked around and captured different poses and candids. The couple was shy in the beginning. But, we had fun. I had to work quickly since, we had a little bit of drive back to the Temple.

The Temple hall was beautifully decorated. When we arrived, guests were enjoying appetizers. We had few mins to get ready before the reception officially started. I have mentioned this earlier: this wedding was unique! And the reception was no exception! There was no DJ! No professional performers. No alcohol. Vegan food. No cake. And yet, it was great fun and very refreshing to photograph! The couple’s family and friends had created skits to describe their story. This reminded me of Lusally and Luan’s Chinese wedding which I had photographed last year. Of course, the skits of that reception were Non-PG! There were speeches. Dancer performances. And more. And then I photographed the couple with family and friends. This session was impromptu. But, the group images are very important part of Indian weddings. I enjoyed late night dinner with Richard and Andrea of Soulmate Films.

I enjoyed Prutha and Veeral’s wedding as a photographer and also at a personal level. I met many nice folks. Everyone was very helpful. And I hope my images will do justice to this very special occasion of a very special community in Chesapeake…

One of my favorite songs here. Acoustic version. Once I bought a guitar. I was inspired after attending a concert. Needless to say that someone on Craigslist got my good guitar for cheap.
