I love Beaufort- one of the oldest coastal towns in NC! I have captured many beautiful images of Beaufort during my vacation there. Last year, one of my paintings- “Beaufort Sunset” had won honorable mention in Jerry’s Artarama‘s competition. Lauren & Whit’s wedding brought art and photography together at the Beaufort Art Center. The Art Center is owned by my fellow artist Flora Lea Louden whom I have known since my Cary Gallery days. Flora not only helped me during the wedding but also afterwards for a little portrait sessions (she was also kind enough to lead me to the reception venue).
I drove to Pine Knoll Shores on the day of the wedding, as Lauren was staying there with her bridesmaids. Here is a place which I have frequented recently. I have done family portrait sessions in Pine Knoll Shores and done watercolor and pencil sketches on the beach. I am also working on an Oil landscape of the beach sunset. It was hot! And of course, humid! I captured candid and portrait images of Lauren indoors. Lauren’s dog Reese was happy to join the photography session! Reese was also part of Lauren and Whit’s E-session at the NC State. Our brief trip to the beach for portraits was not successful due to the wind.
The drive to Beaufort was a short one. I photographed Whit and his groomsmen. The ceremony seating arrangement was unique with guests sitting in a circle. There was sand ceremony and a song performed by Lauren and Whit’s friend. The Art center doors and windows provide good frame for creating portraits. I captured family and wedding party group images after the ceremony. The reception was at the Beaufort Grocery Company restaurant. The reception was both indoors and outdoors. There were beautiful speeches, slide show and dances. I was happy to capture many emotions of Lauren and Whit throughout the evening. Lauren and Whit made grand exit with family and friends lined up outside with the sparklers. It was time for me to head to Pine Knoll Shores and get some sleep. The next day was Father’s day- I was scheduled to start the morning with Patel family’s portrait session on the beach…
